Telehealth as Neuroaffirming Practice
Itβs our Speechie BrontΓ« here wrapping up a busy Telehealth afternoon working with some of my wonderful Neurodivergent clients. Telehealth sessions are a flexible way to deliver therapy, from the comfort of your own home π π§‘
Telehealth offers many benefits, support strategies and Neuroaffirming practices. Some of these include:
πΉ Turning the camera off to take a break from masking.
πΈ Closed captions to help comprehension.
πΉ Quickly sending links/ pictures to help explain things e.g. TikTok videos from neurodiverse people to explain a feeling.
πΈ Reduce background noises and distractions - wearing noise cancelling headphones.
πΉ Have all the support tools from your home available when you need it.
πΈ Greater flexibility to move session times. More easily work around communication and Autistic burn out.
πΉ Reduced anxiety with having someone visit your home or travel to a clinic.
πΈ Saving time and funding on travel. This means you can have more therapy sessions!
