This Book Week, weβre showcasing assistive technology that can make reading more accessible π here is some AT we love to recommend and use:
Text-to-speech: π£οΈ an everyday tool built into most smartphones and tablets, to read allow part or whole texts.
Screen mask tools: π Reduces distractions by focusing on one line at a time.
Optical character recognition (OCR): πΌοΈ Converts text in images (like picture descriptions) into readable text.
Daisy: πΌ Digital format that reads aloud books. These devices allow readers to search in the book, move from one page to another or from one chapter
Kindle holder & page turner remote: ποΈ Hands-free reading, if you have reduced mobility, strength or energy.
C-Pen: ποΈ Scan and read text aloud, helpful for dyslexia or language learning.
Kindle + audio: π§ Follow along with text and audio, perfect for multi-sensory learning. Kindles also allow you to change font size, highlight phrases and search up word meanings using the in build dictionary.
